Ok so a few nights ago I got a chance to have a great night of fine food and great company at Chez Lucien’s. The French Bistro located right in the heart of Harlem and right off Famous 125th street, is a great spot for a Sunday brunch or an intimate dinner.
The staff was attentive and I heard from one of my dinner companions that ordered their Champagne Mojito told me that it rivaled his favorite Mojito spot in the city but I didn’t partake. After two glasses of wine I decided that it’d be best that I refrain from mixing my poisons.
Ok so on to the food.. Now I must admit French Bistros are not my go to genre of restaurants when I think of filling my tummy. So to order from the menu was a little of a stab in the dark, but I made do. As an appetizer I ordered, a salmon tartar and although I am not sure that it would be something that I would get used to eating. The salmon had a lot of flavor and had an interesting texture to it.
For my main course, I ordered a Steak Frites Traditionnelle, cooked medium well, oh my goodness when I tell you that I ate the whole entire thing. And was so absolutely pleased, I have dined in some of the best steakhouses across this city and moreover the country but this was by far ranked amongst the top.
The meat was tender juicy and very well prepared. One of my companions ordered a salmon (Saumon Grill e avec une R duction de Porto et Basalmic) that was beautifully plated and smelled absolutely divine, so if I had to make suggestions based on my dinner group I know those two items were amongst our favs.
For Desert I ordered the chocolate cake with pistachio ice cream although after pigging out on the steak there was little room for desert but the cake was moist and the ice cream was well cold..lol.
The menu prices are moderate at best but not cheap enough for a first date unless you are me because I am high maintenance, but from what I tasted well worth it. Their was such a diverse crowd in Chez Lucien. and the place had a constant stream of fabulous people gracing the place with their presence which, added extra ambiance to the spot. It is in a perfect location right on the same street with both rapid and mass transit lines. So with that said although I am not no, Rachel Ray I know what I like and I would definitely recommend Chez Lucien.
