No matter what you where the most important thing you will put on besides your attitude nothing is more important than your FOUNDATION garments. And one of the most important things is to make sure you are wearing the right bra.
So recently I went into victoria Secret, and although they are the most popular brand of bras, I sometimes find them hard to take. No matter what happens my breast tend to have a mind of their own in them. And somehow my cups always seem to runeth over… And It was suggested to me that I got a proper bra fitting. And to my horror I was buying the wrong bra size.
So If you don’t want to go get a professional bar fitting here is the way to find out your proper bra size at home.
STEP ONE-Band Size
measure under the bustline
With a tape measure take the and wrap it directly under your bustline once you expel all the air in your lungs.
Make this number as small as possible but round all fractional numbers up to the nearest whole number.
If the Measurement equals an even number add four
If the measurement is an odd number add five.
STEP TWO-Cup Size
Now measure the fleshy part of your breast. Take the tape measure and wrap it with your tape measure parallel with your nippled. with your hands to your sides.
round all fractional measures up to nearest whole number.
Oh my god. I cannot tell you how aggravated I get with people wearing the wrong size bra. It’s painful. Luckily, all you usually have to tell anyone is that they’ll look thinner with the correct sized bra and some of the dangers of wearing the incorrect size, they are too happy to get fitted. ^^
Don’t go to Victoria’s Secret to get fitted though – they do it wrong (and their bras are cheap pieces of shit). You’re supposed to be me…asured without clothing, but VS has employees measure customers over theirs.
You can do it at home, but if you want to go to a professional; go to Nordstrom.
Please, for the love of god, edit your instructions. *pained*
Correct way to measure bra size: When you measure it’s supposed to be at the rib cage directly under the breasts (band size). There’s no adding. If you measure a 35 or 35.5, you’re a 36. Cup size is measured at the fullest part of the breasts. You subtract your band size from the second measurement at the bust line and the difference will give you the cup. AA = 0, A = 1, b = 2 and so on (32 inches around the ribcage minus 36 inches at the fullest part of the bust equals 4 inches. That’d be a D).
When you put a bra on, you’re supposed to hook it on the middle enclosure and only be able to pull the band from the back – at most – two inches away from your body. If you have any more room, it’s too big. The body heat we produce will soften and allow the elastic in the bra to stretch over time.
Another thing: The shoulder straps should also be adjusted so they’re firm (but not so tight that they dig into your shoulders and back uncomfortably).
Whomever gave you those instructions should be stabbed.

bras may help develop breasts..
The adding 4-5 inches method is really inaccurate and an outdated method. It comes from the 50s when women were expected to measure the ideal 36-24-36, so band inches were added as ‘vanity sizing’. It’s no longer correct today. You can read about it here: http://sophiajenner.wordpress.com/2011/06/12/simply-ill-fitting/
