Let’s Face it… If you could make your face slimmer Just by properly applying make up to your face who wouldn’t do that? Recently I had a photo shoot and the make up artist applied make up to my face in a way that made me look good from every angle.
I never thought about contouring, personally I’d seen way too many people do it wrong, to add it to my make up routine. Besides although I love the look on drag queens it definitely isn’t the way I want to walk around in my every day life. But When I learned how to properly apply it to my face for a dramatic look, I just had to share.
Ok now confession time, Is it just me or have any of you ladies ever sat down and watched Ru-Paul’s Drag race? Well if you haven’t you should have because those damn ladies know how to beat the hell out of a face. BUT, that is also the same reason that I didn’t think to try to use the technique, because if you over do it you might look a little Tranny all up in your grill.
Contouring is the optical Illusion, of using make up to add Highlights
Add the Lighter colors to the areas you want to highlight and the Darker colors to the areas you want to minimize
and Shadows to your natural color. This can be achieved by using a color that is lighter (up to 2 shades) than your natural skin color, (or foundation color) to highlight the part of the skin to mimic the areas that are lightened by the sun or a color darker (up to 2 shades darker) to add shadowing and depth to the areas you want to minimize.
You can use bronzer ( but be careful not to apply to your T zone which is your forehead and nose area, as it might make you look greasy. You can use a flesh toned eye shadow a concealer a or pressed powder.
Directions
Once you have chosen the darker color you plan to use, suck in your cheeks, (Fish Face) and use a smalled angled contoured brush to apply the powder to the hallows of your cheeks. Once that is done bring the brush up in a C shape
Applying Areas for the Dark Contour color
towards your temples and forehead but don’t apply to your forehead you are just blending there.
Next take that same color and add it to the sides of your nose (Darker color) this is to slim out your nose.
Once this is done, You can take your Highlight color and add it to the areas of your face that you want to highlight generally the areas that the sun hits.
These areas are under your eyes, the bridge of your nose, if you have wide nostrils on your nostril area. The top of your lip to give your lip a little plumpness and on your chin area. ( refer to the picture above).
With A little bit of practice I am sure you will be able to make this addition to your beauty routine to correct and reshape your face into his most perfect angles.
