Since I saw Kelly Rowland at Her recent Party with the Black Eye Shadow I have been obsessed with trying to do my version of the Look. Now I must admit I normally stray away from Black Eye Shadow, for some reason it looked too damn dramatic. But as the Gay guy in MAC told me, “Girl You can’t have too much drama…every day in my Grammys.”
But When I watch Oprah with what seems to be her favorite look It’s hard to fight it. Now this look can also give you a the Smokey Eye look But this is with a slight variation the difference being that you can achieve a smoky eye with any dark shadow.

Instructions
Base and prime the face as you normally would, Apply your make up as you would normally.
Apply a light dusting of powder under your eye. A shade lighter than you normal powder. This is for 2 reasons. The first is that it will serve as a highlight color to give you that Kim Kardashian type eyes that pop, second is that it will keep any of the dark shadow from falling under your eyes and creating dark circles, which is something you don’t want.
What I would normally do is use Mac’s Cream Color Base in Black all over my eye lids. But if you don’t have that available. You can use a black eyeliner. Take it and smudge it all across the lid of your eyes up to the crease. This will serve as a base for your eyeshadow.
Now after doing this you should wet your eye shadow brush, and then apply the color of your choice. You can use a grey or even like Ms Kelly did use a purple. This will darken the color that you apply on top and allow for the black to be your base to darken whatever shadow you use to apply on top of it. Before I used the Mac Cream Base. I would find that no matter how dark my eye shadow was it looked lighter on my eyes and it would tend to separate.
Do your eyebrows as you would normally. For me My eyebrows are very sparse. which means they don’t grow in all he way so I take an eyebrow pencil and a stiff angled brush and fill them in.
I take another clean brush and apply a light shimmery color just below my eyebrow bone. and extend downward toward the lid. To smoothen out the line that separate both shadows. Take clean brush and in a circular motion blend both shadows together near the crease of the eye.
Apply White Eye liner in your eyes from the outter corner of your eyelid to the middle. (this is to get the look in this picture) But I would prefer to do it from the inner corner of your eyelid to the middle. But try it either way and see which one your prefer.
Take a black eyeliner. And underneath your eye line your eyes.
You are doing this in your lash line…so where your eyelashes are. not inside your eye.
After you have applied the line take a smudge brush and smudge the eye liner, or you can use an eyeliner brush.
Apply liquid eyeliner on the top lid. Apply lashes if you want, but Mascara will work just fine.
Here is me with my black eye shadow on. I think I did a pretty good job, although i am dying to try the Kelly Rowland Purple Version of this look.
